SEABIN sales and leasing

SEABIN
SUSTAINABLE JAPAN Co., Ltd. sells and leases marine floating garbage collector SEABIN. SEABIN is a "waste bin" designed to be installed in the water available in fishing ports, marinas, yacht clubs, ponds, lakes and other calm environments. SEABIN functions as a trash can by sending water into the device, and can collect even floating garbage and microplastics. It can also clean water from contaminated organic matter by acting as a garbage skimmer. It is also equipped with pads that can absorb petroleum-based surface oils, such as those used in marinas around the world.

Water is sucked from the surface and passes through a catch bag inside the SEABIN. The submersible pump has a capacity of 25.000 Lph (liters per hour) and plugs directly into a 110V or 220V household outlet. Water taken into the SEABIN is returned to the water, and floating debris and oil are trapped in the catch bag. SEABIN can collect up to 20 kg of floating debris per day and 1.4 tons of microplastics up to 2 mm per year (depending on weather and amount of debris).
Popularity of SEABIN
Currently, there are 860 SEABIN installations worldwide, but they are not popular in Japan. It is said that 30% of the garbage that pollutes the world's oceans comes from Asian countries. If things continue as they are, the day will come when there will be more garbage than fish in the sea in the near future. I don't want to see that sea, nor do I want to imagine it.
